Today we as a Specialize class found out all of the documentaries that Prof Jones choose and who we would be paired up with to work on the documentaries. None of my pitches were chosen but I was paired up with Kyle Marcil and the documentary that was chosen for our group was the Heisman. Kyle pitched this idea and the role that I will play is the videographer/editor. I'm very excited about this testamentary because this is part of history and I'm involved in it.
Both Kyle and I got together after class to decide if we were going to film the first home game, which was that Saturday. We agreed, but there was an issue my partner would not be able to make it. Therefore that meant I would be filming a college football game by myself. At first I agreed to just go and film but after I sat down and let everything sink in about what I would be doing, a MILLION and ONE questions popped in my head. Such as, would I have to pay for parking, where was I going to park, what did I need to film, what if I get hit with the ball, who else could go out there with me, what if I cant find parking, what to do period. I have no clue about football, I've only filmed a little league softball team, NEVER a major college football team, I WAS SOOO SCARED!
I came up with every excuse in the world not to film and my partner did not see what the big deal was. We ended up having an argument and at that point I wanted nothing to do with the documentary. I started to question why would Prof. Jones partner me up with a person that choose a sports theme. After Kyle and I told each other how we felt we came to the agreement that we both needed to pass this class, this was both of our documentaries and we were partners until the end.
